Work Out Check In =)

Monday, March 31, 2014

Well today I realized how true my words were before. When we try and keep a schedule things get in the way, we get discouraged, and or forgetful. So I am checking in with my work out status. I have continued my working out and still going hard. Some days will always be harder than others, but that doesn't mean we give up. We constantly need encouragement and reassurance that you are on the right path.  I am not trying to do some unsustainable  crazy diet. I am trying to live a healthier life style and loose some weight along the way. I realize how much longer that will take me. It may take me the rest of this year and part of next year to reach my goal. I don't care because I know at the end I can look back at how dedicated I was and how hard I worked to achieve something that I really wanted.

So far I have lost a total of 11 lbs since I started. I have been alternating T25 cardio video, lifting, squatting, running and walking. I try to stay active and be cautious of what I eat and when I eat it. On the weekends I try to keep active as well. I have a 6 year old and I also have to make sure she is getting out as well. So there is nothing like getting out and hiking around the hills with the family. A healthy outing with the family is great for everyone involved.

GETTING DISCOURAGED is perfectly normal. Feel it and then forget about it!! Through away those negative thoughts. Realize that you are just going through the motions. Tell yourself that these feeling are all completely normal. Anyone who works out and is trying to loose weight will also feel the same. But  if you really want it and want to feel great about yourself again, KEEP GOING!!! Find ways to continuously inspire yourself. For me I fallow a number of sites that help encourage me and keep me motivated. Set small realistic goals for yourself. Make a list of goals and check them off as you reach each one! I can't wait to share some progress photos with everyone once I hit my first big goal! If anyone needs some encouragement or advice I am always here=)

KEEP GOING YOUR WORTH IT!!

Work out Check-In

Checking In

So tonight I am just reporting what I did today. Today I finally broke down and tried something new. My Fiance has been bugging me to try his T25 he swore that I would love it. Well... I think he secretly hates me. I tried it and it kicked my butt in only 25 minutes! There was no need to leave my house to work out today just pure hardcore cardio right in my living room. I don't think I have ever sweat so much in my life!! Even though I did that cardio I still did my planks and push ups. Everything else I needed to do was in the T25 video. I am still going to go to the gym , but I will be alternating between the two now.

There are so many different work outs you can do. If you can't afford it that's fine! The Internet is you friend. There are so many free videos you can work out to online and or do at home!

Tonight for dinner I used my George Foreman Grill. I grilled up some chicken 98% fat free Foster farms chicken and pan fried some vegetables. No oil I used Spam it is calorie free and fat free and has no sodium. To season the meat and good I used Mrs. Dash No salt, no calorie, and fat free seasoning. Simple fast healthy foods. Also the key thing is to eat dinner by 6pm. It gives your body plenty of time to digest before you go to bed.

Remember loosing weight and getting into shape is a process it takes time! It isn't going to happen over night. Well I am pooped from today so TTFN that is all I have for today. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

This is not me YET!

The Journey through exercising and weight loss!

Saturday, March 8, 2014

So sorry that I haven't written in a few days between school and running around I haven't had much time. I believe that goes with what I said before. As much as we all strive to keep routine things change from day to day! Set goals for your day and start with the most important thing first and work from there.

So I am going to try and keep this short tonight, but I am going to jump right into it. So I am coming up on the end of my 3rd week of working out. You can't tell much a difference to much other than a little weight loss, but for me I always loose it first in my face. I don't know if everyone else is like this, but it is different for every person. So I work out now 5 days a week and take two days off. Now It may just be me but a word of advise. Never take two days off in a row! You are more likely to get lazy. I switch what days I have off. If I work my ass off at the gym and totally kill it then the next day I know I am going to need off. Not to say that I don't hit the gym hard every time, but some days I work out harder than the previous day.

Right now I am concentrating on my cardio. I start out 15 min on the treadmill and do 25 on the StairMaster. Now I know I told you to only start out with 30 min and I still think you should. I just bumped up to more time recently. I also added in squats, planks, push ups, lunges, and leg press. I am finding out that I doing squats with weights help more. If you don't have weight to use that's fine you can improvise with household items or do without. The fact you are doing them is going to help you out! So this is what my routine at the gym has become every other day I alternate the days of the week vary:
Day 1
Cardio-StairMaster,and treadmill total 40 min

Squats- with 15lb weights (5 sets of 10)

Jumping jacks- 2 sets of 40

Lunges- with 15lb weights

push ups- 60 3 sets of 20 if your just starting out I would say doing sets of 10 rest and repeat as many as you can do.

Always stretch! I stretch after each exercise I do! You are more likely to injure yourself if you don't. Hold each stretch for 30 seconds!

Day 2
Cardio ( same as above)

I use 10lbs weights to do my arms. Now for my arms I do a number of things. I punch with weights sets of 10 then switch from right to left.

Free weight shoulder presses 4 sets of 10 right and left

Jumping jacks 2 sets of 40(everyday)

push ups 3 sets of 20(everyday)

Planks hold for 30 second rest and repeat 3 times (everyday)

I do all my planks and push ups at home because I use the gym at my apartments! Don't want to risk getting on that floor. It's just me I just can't LOL

Day 3

Depending on how hard I pushed it the previous day I will rest.

Please remember working out is a process. DO NOT get discouraged if you don't see imitate results don't give up it takes time. I am not taking any supplements and not doing any insane diets. Trust me when I say I have tried every insane diet and pill out there and sure at first it works then all the weight comes back just as fast. Just make wiser choices. key thing and I know its hard but stay away from fried foods. I know I know there so delicious, but it will hurt you and your progress. Allow yourself a cheat day. My cheat days I try to keep it still not so bad. Eat more salads but be cautious of the salad dressing they are tricky that is the most unhealthy part of a salad. Some dressings can be up to 40 grams of fats and 300 calories. I use Italian dressing low cal low fat. Eat more fruits and vegetables and tons and tons of water!!! WATER!

Now I haven't lost anymore more weight but I am gaining muscle and for the muscle you gain that's more calories burned and that eventually turns into fat loss!
Another key thing is to stay moving through out your day. Not saying walk around in circles all day but if you find you have been sitting for to long get up stretch and walk around a little. Go check the mail take your dog for a walk or take your kid out to the park.  Well I think that is all I have to share tonight I wish who ever is reading this luck in their journey. I will continue to share mine with you and I hope to inspire someone to start their own. It's a about living healthier longer and better. Being the best person you can be!

Love,

Annie.

P.S.
I am still figuring things out for myself such as my days I am working out and if I want to hit my none machine work outs before or after I do cardio. That is something you are going to have to figure out what works best for you! You owe it to yourself to be the best person you can be! If not for anyone else for yourself!!! Keep up the great work=)

Exercise...What is it good for?

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Do you remember that lecture your mom use to give you " If your friends were going to jump off a bridge would you?"  or the sane "What's good for the goose is good for the gander."

Well Have you recently started to workout but it didn't quite work-out?  The problem now a days is people are setting them selves up with unrealistic goals. Loose 5lbs a week and  I'll be thin by summer time. Well all my friends are trying this new supplement so it's sure to work for me. What's good for the goose or your friend may not always work for you. Every "body" is different. Just like if you were to go to a personal trainer and they teach you a number of things to help you get started. You can't always turn around and give someone else the same advice. Take information you receive from others with a grain of salt. Everyone has different needs. And, I know that counting calories is a pain in the ass, but that is what "worked" for me in the past. So for me this year I am turning a new leaf if you will. I am going to put forth more effort into my blog, finish my novel and get into the best shape of my life. I want to share my story with you along the way and hope that my story will inspire you to start your own.

I am 30 years old and I have a 6 year old daughter and a fiancĂ© who is a full time student. He is a Chemistry major so you can imagine how much school work and how time consuming that must be. I am also a student but I only attend part time right now. Our daughter has a strange half day schedule for kindergarten.  My point is that we all have crazy schedules, but how important is it to you to loose weight or simply get into shape and feel great.

" How important is your health?"

I have suffered from depression and I refuse to take meds. I found that besides my writing that I love to work on I enjoy EXERCISING it makes me feel great! It will be harder some days than others. I figure out that its all about setting a routine for yourself. Plans change and routines will get interrupted but you have to learn to work around that and not let ourselves get DISCOURAGED OR DISAPPOINTED! Those are my two lest favorite words. I get so discouraged so easily. My problem is that I set unsustainable diet plans and workout schedules for myself. What you do to loose weight and feel great shouldn't be something you can't maintain

You don't need to starve your self at all. That will never work and if you do loose weight it will come right back on and there is your huge disappointment once again!

So here is my thing I started working out everyday. Now it's not the same time everyday because lets face it as a mom and if you are one or a father you know that's impossible well almost! Our schedule changes and life gets in the way. But its about keeping routine. So everyday I write, workout, and do homework. Not always in that order but I make sure those things on top of my Mom duties I get done. There will always be house work there will always be something to get in your way. Start with something as easy as walking 30 mins a day. If you have your phone or and Ipod set up your Nike fit or download and App I use "Endomondo" on my Android Galaxy3. There are so many apps you can download for free that will help track how far you are walking and save it so you can compare to the next time. Also if you start seeing a difference in the way you are feeling or weight loss then you know hey I walked X amount of miles yesterday today I am going to step it up. I don't always have time without my kid. So I gave her my old mini ipod got her a headset and she has her own little play list of music. Making her a part of exercising makes her happy that it's something she gets to do with mom.  Although we would love to have free time and you can, but for the days you can't that is an option!

So I started out by walking everyday with my daughter or with my dog for 30 mins.  I think it is best to start out only allowing yourself 30 mins each day. Do that for a week. Then after that I stepped it up by going to the gym. Now you don't always have to go to the gym there are things you can do at home and I will post those tomorrow this is just to get you in the mind set. Some people love to Run I am not one of them! So I started working out on the treadmill every day for 15 mins with no cool down because you want to keep that heart rate up!! Then I would move to the StairMaster for another 15 mins. Remember to drinks water lots of it! Then stop After that 30 mins GO HOME. Then repeat the next day. Now some say give yourself a day of rest, but if your only doing 30 mins a day and not doing a high impact workout you don't need to.  I am now on week two and I am doing 45 min work outs and added weights and squats.

As for meals I am not doing anything insane like I said before it should be something you can maintain. 75% of what we eat then working out helps with loosing weight and feeling great. Just do gradual changes. In the morning when I have do either Slim fast or low calorie oat meal and a half a grape fruit.  Breakfast is so important to kick start your day. You should be eating within the first 45 mins after waking up. That is why I choose to do Slim fast some days because I don't always have the time to sit for breakfast while running around trying to get everyone ready. It is for weight loss, but it is also full of vitamins and nutrients!

Here is the part everyone wants to know have you lost weight? Or how long did it take. Honestly I lost 5lbs over these two weeks. The first thing I started to notice is my change in mood and how much more productive I felt and how much more energy I had, You shouldn't be loosing over 2 lbs a week its just not healthy and will come back. So I am going to close for now because I don't want to overwhelm you with all of this so until tomorrow!

Someone once told me "Excuses are like rear-ends we all have one some bigger than others!" Stop making excuses and get out there if for no one else do it for you!

Something for those who can't get out of the house!
Well good luck and I hope to hear your success stories as well. I will continue to share mine with your. It's hard for busy moms to find people to relate to or have things in common. Let this be ours. Everyone needs support so lets help each other along the way. Working out is a process a slow process. Slow and steady will win the race!

NothingButtSMUT- Review for Interview With a Master

Saturday, March 1, 2014

 My short and sweet review.

Man I think that Author Jason Luke did a great job with the Man's POV!
Although I was struggling through the book, the end is what blew me away I didn't see that coming at all! I feel like as many books as I have read I can pretty much predict what is going to happen, but standing ovation because I didn't see that one at all.  I want to explain my reason for struggling. I am use to the roller coaster ride of emotions and all the drama and heart break. This was about a man and all of his conquers as a master. I love the smut I love the falling in love and the journey it takes to get them to the end, but the best part of his book was the end. Now I am not bashing he did a fabulous job executing the man's POV and I am hoping for a great second. I am a sucker for series books! Even though it wasn't my typical romance story it was still the best book written by a male author that I have read so far! Great Job Jason Luke and I have to say yes I would and already have recommend this book to my friends!
